Our research funding schemes support academics at different points through their career by providing opportunities to undertake high quality, industry-partnered research at RMIT.

Grants of up to $10,000 to cover the cost of travel and accommodation.
Duration: no less than 2 weeks.

RMIT Foundation International Research Exchange Fellowships (login required)

Grants of up to $10,000 to cover the cost of travel and accommodation.
Duration: no less than 2 weeks.

Senior researcher
(Academic C)

Vice-Chancellors Senior Research Fellowships

Four-year employment contract with $50,000 over four years to support the achievement of individual research goals. Where applicable RMIT will assist with relocation and visa applications.
Duration: 4 years

Vice-Chancellors Senior Research Industry Fellowships

Four-year employment contract funded jointly with an industry partner. RMIT provides $50,000 over four years to support the achievement of individual research goals. Where applicable RMIT will assist with relocation and visa applications.
Duration: 4 years

Early career researcher (Academic A/B)

RMIT International Industry Experience and Research Program - Postdoctoral Fellowship

Postdoctoral fellows receive similar conditions to employees of the from international industry partner organisation.
Duration: 1 to 2 years.

RMIT University Research Fellows

Three-year employment contract plus $5,000 p/a for three years to support the achievement of individual research goals.
Duration: 3 years.

Malcolm Moore Industry Research Grant (login required)

An annual grant of up to $40,000 to support an industry-partnered research project by an early career researcher.

Higher Degrees by Research student

RMIT International Industry Experience and Research Program - Postgraduate Research

Research grants, co-supervision and access to international industry partner organisations research facilities.
Duration: length of research program.

Deputy Vice Chancellor’s (Research and Innovation) Postgraduate Research Student International Conference Fund

Funding to assist HDR candidates to participate in internationally recognised conference/workshop: Up to $1,000 for an event within Australian or New Zealand. Up to $2,000 for other locations.

Enrichment and support services

The School of Graduate Research provides services such as the Statistical Consultancy Service, On Track workshops, writing and editing support and online professional development modules.
