Wireless

RMIT University offers the following wireless networks on and around campus:

  • RMIT–University network is available to RMIT students, RMIT staff and authorised visitors. This secure or ‘closed access’ network will appear in the WiFi settings of a device and enable authorised users to access the internet and RMIT’s network.
    There is a one-time only additional step required to establish wireless connection in Building 80 and 100 – refer below for additional details.

  • RMIT–Support network is available to all members of the RMIT community. This ‘open access’ network will appear in the WiFi settings of a device and link to a variety of support information including password assistance, user guides and the IT Service Desk.

  • eduroam is available to students and staff from visiting universities. This network is an independent wireless network which allows mobility between educational institutions for authorised users. Instructions on how to access eduroam are contained within the user guide.

  • Building 80 and 100: There is a one-time only additional step required to establish wireless connection in these buildings.
    • Search for the wireless network ‘RMIT-University’ and authenticate with your username (e.g. s1234567) and password.
    • Open an internet browser. A window with the ‘RMIT Acceptable Use Policy’ will display. Select ‘agree’ and choose the relevant option to complete your connection (staff, student or guest). You will then need to open a new web page. Refer to the Building 80 and 100 user guide for further instructions if required.

  • Guest access: All RMIT staff (with an ‘e’ number) can arrange guest access to the RMIT wireless network (internet only) for visitors in Building 80 or 100 via the online registration system . Refer to the guest access user guide for more information if required.
