Students benefit from work experience fair

More than 300 RMIT University students from the College of Business attended the annual Work Experience Fair.
The important industry event provided Business students with the opportunity to meet more than 30 prospective employers from a variety of industries.
This included a number of students who are currently undertaking their cooperative education placement and who were more than willing to talk about their experiences working in a business environment.
The Cooperative Education Program is one of the best examples of Work Integrated Learning (WIL) offered by RMIT.
The program allows Business students enrolled in four-year undergraduate degrees to obtain a year of work experience during their third year of study, giving them a strong advantage in the job market.
The Work Experience Fair aims to assist students who are preparing applications for co-op placements.
“The event allows students to network with potential employers and to learn more about the nature of the placements being offered,” Tracey Skordos, Work Integrated Learning Coordinator, School of Management, said.
Two seminars were held prior to the fair which gave students tips on how to prepare.
Students were encouraged research participating organisations and to come along with questions ready.
