Space Planning and Management

Space Planning and Management's key goals are to provide expert advice on the management of the University's space in terms of recommended spatial allocations, utilisation analysis and accommodation planning strategies; to develop and maintain the University's space inventory system and AutoCad database; and to support the University's room booking and timetabling processes.

Services provided:

  • Preparation of short-to-medium term (1-5 year) accommodation planning strategies for the University.
  • Advice on spatial allocation and space standards
  • Space utilisation analysis
  • Provision of an outline brief for each project estimated to cost between $75,000 and $1m
  • Input into development and maintenance of the Infrastructure Plan (Property Component)
  • Maintenance and documentation of all site and floor plans of all University occupied buildings, grounds and leased accommodation
  • Management of the overall policy and procedures framework for the operation of Occupancy Charges Statements within the University
  • Maintenance if the University room booking and timetabling system (Syllabus Plus)

Infrastructure Plan – Property Component

The Infrastructure Plan - Property establishes a set of planning principles and campus plans to guide future development for each of the University’s campuses.

Space Guidelines and Principles

The Space allocation guidelines are intended to provide an equitable basis for University wide decision making on the allocation of space within all University owned or controlled buildings.

Capital Plan

The RMIT Infrastructure Plan 2012-2016 – Property Component contains a detailed Capital Plan for 2013 and an indicative plan out to 2016.
