Work placements and Work Integrated Learning
Students undertake work placements to enhance their work skills and employability. For many students, work placements are a prescribed part of their program or are required for professional accreditation. The commonly recognised term for this type of learning experience within a workplace environment is Work Integrated Learning or WIL.
RMIT student work placements or WIL can include:
- short-term project work and industry based research
- six or 12 month internships or cooperative placements
- voluntary placements
- industry projects
- clinical and professional placements.
Your organisation can benefit through having:
- high-achieving motivated students who undertake research and projects
- new ideas from students on a pre-graduate salary
- an effective and economical way of recruiting future professionals
- the flexibility to handle bigger workloads.
Work placements are organised through RMIT’s academic schools. Contact Career Development and Employment to have your work placement enquiry directed to the appropriate college or school.
