You'll develop a strong and up-to-date understanding of commercial book publishing to further your publishing career, or even change career direction.
You’ll learn:
- the principles and practices of editing
- the production and sales of print and electronic materials
- the business of book publishing
- the cultural context in which the book industry operates in Australia.
While providing ongoing education and skills training for those already working in the industry, the program will also develop relevant skills to help you enter the industry.
The program is esteemed by industry because:
- the content and structure remains ‘vocational’, with an emphasis on the acquisition and development of practical, readily applicable and transferable professional skills
- the program’s curriculum ensures it reflects existing practice and emerging trends in the publishing industry
- the program is managed by professional industry practitioners with extensive experience in the trade and educational sectors of the industry
- the program is part-time and classes are held in the evening to meet the needs of working students
- the program is linked to and supported by industry through the Program Advisory Committee
- of the personal supervision of student activity and progress, in particular in the editing components of the program

Features
Learning and teaching
RMIT offers a variety of learning and teaching approaches including lectures, seminars, studios, workshops, presentations, group discussions and syndicate work. These are primarily in English.
You will have access to the Learning Hub and other online and digital resources through the myRMIT student portal.
Ongoing assessment throughout the semester includes examinations, essays, reports, oral classes, presentations, group projects, research projects, laboratory projects and practical assignments.

This program is full fee paying only. Postgraduate tuition fees vary according to each program and are adjusted annually.

- FEE-HELP is an optional loan scheme that assists eligible full-fee paying students to pay all or part of their tuition fees.

In addition to tuition fees there is also the Student services and amenities fee (SSAF). You may be able to defer the fee through the SA-HELP loan scheme.
