Our new HR management program focuses on developing strategies to manage people and construct workplace arrangements that respond to organisational and human needs.
You will become comfortable using contemporary media and communication tools, have the ability to explain concepts and put forward proposals in a coherent and logical manner.
As a HR practitioner you will be expected to understand sustainable work practices and policies and make organisational decisions within the broader social and economic environment and work.

Learning and teaching
RMIT's Swanston Academic Building offers innovative spaces like interactive lecture and tutorial spaces, lectorial theatres and small-group rooms.
RMIT offers a variety of learning and teaching approaches including lectures, seminars, studios, workshops, presentations, group discussions and syndicate work. These are primarily in English.
You will have access to the Learning Hub and other online and digital resources through the myRMIT student portal.
Ongoing assessment throughout the semester includes examinations, essays, reports, oral classes, presentations, group projects, research projects, laboratory projects and practical assignments.
Program structure
The program consists of 24 courses (each 12 credit points) and includes:
- 8 compulsory common business core courses
- 8 business discipline major courses
- 8 flexible courses.
The 8 flexible courses can be selected from 3 options:
- a second business discipline major (8 courses)
- a compulsory business discipline minor (4 courses) + second minor (any discipline)
- a compulsory business discipline minor (4 courses) + 4 electives.
A second business major can be selected from:
- accountancy
- business information systems
- economics
- finance
- logistics and supply chain management
- marketing.
Business minors can be selected from the same disciplines as listed above as well as economics and finance, human resource management and sustainable enterprise. Other minors can be selected from many disciplines offered across RMIT.

Industry connections
You will have the opportunity to directly apply your academic skills to a work context in work-integrated learning courses like Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Management and Negotiation and Advocacy Skills (each 12 credit points).
By undertaking these courses you will interact and receive feedback from industry or the community, clients and/or practitioners.
Guiding the development of the College of Business, both nationally and internationally, is an Industry Advisory Board of high-profile executives chaired by Gerhard Vorster, Chief Strategy Officer, Deloitte. The Board creates a strategic bridge between the latest in technology and design thinking and business.

Global opportunities
International study tours during the Australian summer or winter vacations and can be credited towards your degree. There's also the opportunity for an exchange for 1 semester or 1 year, or an international work placement.
Destinations include Canada, China, France, Germany, Thailand, the USA and Vietnam.

Current Year 12 prerequisite units 3 and 4—a study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or at least 25 in any other English.

Fees
Tuition fees vary according to program and are adjusted annually.
In a Commonwealth supported place (CSP) your tuition fee is shared between you and the Commonwealth Government - if you meet the eligibility criteria.
Fee assistance
As a Commonwealth supported student, you may be able to either:
- pay all or part of your student contribution up front and receive a 10% discount, or
- defer your tuition fees through the HECS-HELP loan scheme.

Graduates of the Associate Degree in Business may be eligible to apply for exemptions of up to 2 years from this program.
