Qualitative Interest Group – Qualitative Data From Survey Software

The Qualitative Research Group is an informal and supportive discussion group that meets monthly, convened by Adjunct Professor Lyn Richards. The meetings are held at lunchtime (lunch provided) on the first Tuesday of every month. All interested in qualitative research issues are welcome.

This meeting will discuss survey software and the qualitative data it can provide. Making qualitative data by using online survey research tools involves a range of issues around design of surveys and wording of questions, retrieval of data and ways of exploring meaning in brief answers. This session will focus on two survey products widely used to provide data from ‘open-ended’ questions, Survey Monkey and Qualtrics.
