Want to forge a career in interactive digital media? If you've completed the Diploma of Screen and Media or Diploma of Interactive Digital Media, the Advanced Diploma gives you the broad base necessary to move ahead in the art, design, screen and media industries. RMIT is renowned as Australia's leader in interactive and new media education, and we'll give you a creative and supportive environment of artistic and intellectual investigation and opportunities to make industry connections.

Many graduates and staff have exhibited in festivals and conferences locally and internationally, including Cannes, SIGGRAPH, Milia and Annecy.

Features

Learning and teaching

RMIT offers a variety of learning and teaching approaches including lectures, seminars, studios, workshops, presentations, group discussions and syndicate work. These are primarily in English. You will have access to the Learning Hub and other online and digital resources through the myRMIT student portal.

Ongoing assessment throughout the semester includes examinations, essays, reports, oral classes, presentations, group projects, research projects, laboratory projects and practical assignments.

Program structure

You'll be admitted into the lowest level in the training package and upon successful completion of each qualification level, you'll apply to commence the next qualification level.

Year 12 applicants typically apply for either the Diploma of Screen and Media or Diploma of Interactive Digital Media and complete the suite of 2 programs over 2 years full-time.

After you have completed either of the two Diploma programs, you are encouraged to continue your studies in the Advanced Diploma.

You'll focus on following key areas:

  • advanced interactivity
  • concept development
  • games
  • group productions
  • independent production
  • sound design.

Industry connections

You'll be encouraged to find part-time, casual or volunteer work in a range of screen and new media industries to develop and apply your knowledge and skills and to acquire workplace experience.

You must meet the University entry requirements for this type of program.

Program entry requirements

Successful completion of the Diploma of Screen and Media or Diploma of Interactive Digital Media or a recognised post secondary Diploma or Certificate in a relevant discipline. Applicants with post secondary work experience in this field will also be considered.

Fees

Tuition fees vary according to each program.

There are 2 tuition fee types:

  • Victorian Government subsidised places where your fee is shared between you and the Victorian Government - if you meet the eligibility criteria
  • full fees where you will be responsible for the full cost.
