Statute 3.7 – The academic staff

1. (a) The Council may appoint such teaching and research staff (“the academic staff”) for such periods and on such conditions as it may decide.

(b) Any appointment as a member of the academic staff will cease when the appointee ceases to be a member of the staff of the University.

2. A member of the academic staff will have such duties and responsibilities as the Council may prescribe which may include teaching, examining and carrying out and supervising research in such subjects as the Council may approve.

3. Where any provision in this statute is inconsistent with any provision in any award under which a member of the academic staff is employed the provision of that award will prevail.

4. Regulations made under this statute will come into effect when exhibited on the official university notice boards and will remain exhibited for a period of not less than fourteen days which period will not include official university holidays.
