Welcome to the RMIT University Psychology Clinic

The RMIT University Psychology Clinic was established in 1976 and is part of the University’s postgraduate clinical postgraduate programs. The clinic has an excellent reputation for high quality psychological services for children, adolescents and adults.

About the clinic

Clinical sessions are primarily conducted by postgraduate psychology interns completing their fifth, sixth, or seventh year of study. Interns are registered provisional psychologists. They are supervised by and work closely with senior psychologist clinic staff who are RMIT staff members.

What to expect

Your involvement with the clinic will commence with a comprehensive initial interview where information relevant to your particular concerns will be obtained.

During the interview, and at subsequent times, you may be asked to complete a number of questionnaires or rating scales. These are helpful in designing a program and evaluating its effectiveness. Between sessions you may be asked to record information that will be useful to your clinician in determining the best treatment strategies. Subsequent sessions will involve monitoring progress and addressing your specific concerns. Regular follow-up contact is also conducted to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of treatment, where appropriate.

Fees

The clinic operates on a modest fee basis. Fees are used to maintain and purchase equipment for the Psychology Clinic.

The low-cost services at the RMIT Psychology Clinic provided by provisional psychologists are not rebatable through Medicare or private health insurance. However, Medicare rebates are available for consultations with senior psychologists if a doctor’s referral and health care plan is obtained. Please contact the clinic for details.

Current fee structure:

It is the policy of the RMIT University Psychology to provide accessible treatment to all members of the community. Fee reductions are available for healthcare card holders and others experiencing financial distress. Please contact the clinic to enquire about reduced rates.
