Acute Care research

Introduction

The Acute Care Team comprises academics that are teaching into the Acute Care Nursing courses at an Undergraduate and Post Graduate level. The focus of the Acute Care Team is to provide a seamless transition across the Acute Care Courses in the undergraduate program, with each year level course building upon the students previously acquired knowledge and capabilities. The aim of the Acute Care Team is to link horizontally and vertically across the curriculum to link all facets of nursing knowledge and practice into a comprehensive nurse clinician graduate. This focus then allows graduates to identify clinical practice streams to direct future clinical practice and specialisation.

The introduction of Simulation into the Acute Care demonstration and practice laboratories further enhances the consolidation of Evidence Based Nursing Practice into the simulated learning environment in preparation for the clinical practice experiences.

The Acute Care Research Group has developed out of the Evidence Based requirements of Acute Care clinical practice in the learning and teaching environment. In line with the strategic research direction of the Discipline of Nursing and Midwifery; the School of Health Sciences and the College of Science Engineering and Health the Acute Care Research Group continues to undertake research projects that facilitate and validate teaching methodologies and clinical practices in the Acute Care courses.
