Dear colleagues, please make your early career researchers aware of these funding opportunities to undertake postdoctoral research at the European University Institute.

Jean Monnet Fellowships

Website: Jean Monnet Fellowships

Funding agency: European University Institute

Jean Monnet Fellows are based in the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies. They should fit with the Centre's core themes, which include: Migration; Development Policy; Energy and Climate Policy; Global Governance; International and Transnational Relations; Institutional alternatives for global governance: regional integration, international organizations, transnational networks and private governance; Climate change; and Terrorism and counter-terrorism policies, with a focus on its relationship with human rights issues. They are selected on the basis of intellectual quality and the fit between their research topic and the research profile of the Centre. They are expected to participate actively in the research activities of the Centre.

Max Weber Fellowship

Website: Max Weber Fellowship

Funding agency: European University Institute

Max Weber Fellowships are designed for junior post-docs who have received a doctorate in economics, law, history, social and political sciences, or a related field, within the last 5 years. They are designed for junior post-docs who want to pursue an academic career, concentrate on their research and improve their academic practice in a multidisciplinary environment, for one or two academic years. The programme combines research and training activities which will enhance the early development of a fruitful academic career. Max Weber fellows will be affiliated to one of the EUI's four departments.

You can apply for both, if you fit both sets of criteria.

I am happy to work with people to develop their applications. If you would like to meet with me, please do a busy search in the Groupwise calendar and then send me an appointment request.

R&I Deadline: 11 October 2011 to Margaret Thorpe.

External deadline: 25 October 2011.
