Sound influences all aspects of our lives. At RMIT our specialisations in music and sound cover a wide spectrum of educational and research activities.

Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art)(Sound)
This program facilitates courses in Sound Art, Experimental Music, Sound Design, Audio Production and Spatial Sound Practices. The emphasis on experimental sonic arts practice and culture makes this studio unique.

Audiovisual Technology - Certificate IV and Diploma
This diploma will provide students with a range of specialised technical, creative and/or conceptual skills that may be used in corporate events, education, installation, screen and other sectors of the audio visual industry.

Sound Production - Certificate IV and Advanced Diploma
Sound Production (TAFE) provides training in the theory and practice of audio engineering, focusing on both the technical and creative aspects, offering students the technical skills and knowledge necessary for careers in audio and music production.

Music Industry - Bachelor of Arts
This program covers a range of practical, theoretical and conceptual studies of the music industry. You will develop knowledge and skills in music performance, sound recording and production, and music business.

This elective provides a common knowledge and skills set for students who are considering future work in the sound studios, and at early stages of post-graduate research.

Spatial Sound Composition and Diffusion
This elective provides a practice based learning context where participants investigate complex spatial sound composition and diffusion using the SIAL Sound Diffusion System.

Spatial Sound Design and Ambisonic Modelling
This elective provides engagement with immersive sonic environments through ambisonic modeling techniques. Ambisonics is a method of reproducing a recorded or synthesised sound field to create the illusion of hearing a true three-dimensional acoustic environment.
