RMIT University student Mark Mansour is gaining industry experience with ANZ.

The Bachelor of Business (Professional Accountancy) student is undertaking a 12-month work placement as part of RMIT’s Cooperative Education Program.

The program allows business students enrolled in four-year undergraduate degrees to obtain a year of work experience during their third year of study, which is invaluable when competing in the job market.

Mr Mansour chose RMIT for its reputation as a global university that advocates practical learning.

“I wanted to gain experience in the workforce prior to finishing my degree and RMIT allows you to do this,” he said.

“Completing my work placement at ANZ has allowed me to take the theoretical knowledge from the classroom and apply it to the practical world.

“I have learnt plenty, made valuable contributions to the company and have built strong networks that will last for many years to come.”

Mr Mansour offers advice for other students who are considering the Professional Accountancy degree at RMIT.

“Do not hesitate in choosing this program,” he said.

“Some people worry about the length and would rather complete their studies sooner; however it has so far been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

“Being able to graduate with a year of work experience under your belt doesn’t just make you more marketable as an employee; it assists with future career goals and pathway options.”
