The impact of strategic market entry considerations on the financial performance of Chinese investment in the Australian mining industry
This paper explores the financial performance of Chinese outward foreign direct investment (OFDI) in the Australian mining industry and its influencing factors. Based on a sample of 16 mining companies that have received major Chinese OFDI and are listed on the Australian Security Exchange, we have found that the financial performance of Chinese OFDI varied substantially and examined how it is influenced by several entry factors, including entry timing, development stage, and the ownership structure of the target companies.

The Place of Mobile Intimacy
With the rise of locative media-such as Geographic Positioning Systems, Facebook Places, Jie Pang, Foursquare, Google street views-the cartographies of how intimacy and place are being mapped is changing. These cartographies are reflecting localized notions of privacy, place, intimacy and participation. In this talk, I will briefly reflect upon the changing nature of the mobile media as a portal for democracy in Seoul. In doing so, this is a story about the changing nature of intimacy and privacy.
