IT services for students

RMIT offers a wide range of information technologies (IT) to support your learning experience and help you engage with the University community.

A student postcard is available for collection from the libraries and the Hub; alternatively, download the ‘Get connected’ student postcard, or refer to the ‘2012 IT essentials for RMIT students (764 KB)’ powerpoint presentation for an overview of IT services.

Computer facilities

• Accessibility Assistive technology allows students to read, write and learn through various computer applications
• Computing facilities and lab services
• Novell Directory Service (NDS) is the RMIT wide identifier for students to login to IT services
• Remote dial-in service provides remote access to students
• Virus information to secure email and files
• NetStorage service Provides access to your RMIT H:// drive from the internet using a standard web browser
• Windows Vista compatability Lists browser based applications that have been tested with Vista
• Wireless Connection to the RMIT wireless network from a variety of indoor and outdoor locations around campus
• Available software downloads.

Computer equipment

• PC specials are available to students from the RMIT University computer equipment suppliers
• Apple computer store located on the City campus, offers student discounts on some products.
