Complaints with respect to participation in research at RMIT

If you have a complaint with respect to a research project in which you were a participant, you should first contact the Executive Officer of the RMIT Human Research Ethics Committee, currently Mr Peter Burke. His contact details are as follows:

Research & Innovation
RMIT University
GPO Box 2476 V
Melbourne VIC 3001
Australia.

Phone: (03) 9925 6597 or 9925 2251

Email: peter.burke@rmit.edu.au

If you are simply seeking more information about the research in which you are participating and do not have a complaint, please refer to the contact details given on the plain language statement and the consent form.

Below is the procedure for handling complaints made to the RMIT Human Research Ethics Committee.

Complaints from Participants

All complaints from participants are notified to the Chair of the Committee, who may authorise action to resolve the complaint. The complaint will be considered by the full Committee at its next meeting at which further action may be authorised.

Where a complaint cannot be resolved, the Committee will refer the matter to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation).
